Our free Ask a Dietitian group workshops cover the fundamentals of cholesterol, diabetes and achieving your best weight through healthy behaviours.

Along with learning from registered dietitians, you will have the chance to connect with others going through similar experiences.

We offer three types of workshops, both online and in person. Find the best option for you.

Cholesterol basics

Learn the role of nutrition in managing cholesterol with this interactive class designed for patients with high cholesterol or high blood pressure.

This 90-minute class features an opportunity for questions and answers and will help you understand the role nutrition plays in heart disease, the basics of healthy eating and also offer strategies for sustaining behaviour change. It answers such questions as:

  • What foods should I be eating to manage my cholesterol?
  • Are there foods I need to avoid?
  • Is food the only thing that impacts my cholesterol?

Diabetes or prediabetes

Designed for those with impaired glucose tolerance, prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes, this 90-minute class features an opportunity for questions and answers. It will help you identify foods that affect blood sugar levels, show you how to create balanced meals and snacks — as well as how to time them for optimal blood sugar management — and also offer strategies for sustaining behaviour change. The workshop answers such questions as:

  • How does fibre impact my blood sugars?
  • What should I look for on a food label?
  • Can I eat bananas or grapes?

Best Weight

Dietitians break down myths and offer up the real facts around achieving your best weight and how you can make sustainable lifestyle changes with this one-time, 90-minute class featuring an opportunity for questions and answers. Aimed at those interested in learning about nutrition and healthy behaviour changes so they can achieve their best weight, this workshop will help you understand the factors that impact weight, why fad diets don’t work and what lifestyle changes can improve health. It answers such questions as:

  • How do I start to improve my relationship with food?
  • What foods will help keep me fuller longer?
  • What is best weight and what factors impact weight?
