COVID-19 and pregnancy

Information about COVID-19 and Pregnancy

The safety of our patients is of utmost importance to Riley Park Maternity Clinic and all of Calgary Foothills PCN. Please see the links below for more detailed information.

Our maternity patients deliver at Foothills Medical Centre (hospital). For the safety of everyone, please answer the Covid-19 screening questions at the clinic and at the hospital truthfully. We realize there are many pregnancy symptoms that are similar to the COVID-19 symptom list and are dedicated to providing you the care you need. We have processes in place to ensure you will receive care even if you have symptoms. Your honesty protects everyone.

We are taking every precaution to ensure our patients, their families and our staff are safe both at Riley Park Maternity Clinic and the Foothills hospital.

As a team, we offer quality maternity care and education throughout your pregnancy until you and your baby return to your family physician.

We are presently encountering a high number of pregnant individuals who are testing positive for COVID-19. Pregnancy puts you in a high risk category. Please remember, we are here to help you.

If you develop any COVID-19 symptoms (runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, fever, shortness of breath or weakness and fatigue) please do NOT come to the clinic without calling us first. With advance notice, we can arrange to see you safely in clinic, regardless of symptoms or COVID test results, or rebook your visit until symptom resolution. You should take a COVID Rapid test (kits available from a pharmacy) or book a test through AHS (COVID-19 Testing / Online Booking | Alberta Health Services). If you are symptomatic or test positive, you must isolate from others for at least 5 days if fully vaccinated (your symptoms should be improving and you be fever free for at least 24 hours),  if unvaccinated you must isolate for 10 days. If the home rapid test result is negative and you have symptoms, continue to isolate and repeat the test in 24-48 hours.

If you are COVID positive, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated (1 dose) you may be eligible for a treatment that greatly reduces the risk of COVID-19 severe illness. This must be given within 5 days of the onset of any symptoms. If interested in this treatment, please talk to your maternity physician OR call 1-844-343-0971 to arrange treatment.

Please call us if you are COVID positive so we can check in with you by phone and arrange appropriate follow-up.
